Anthropogenic

$4,500.00

Mixed media 36 x 48

Acrylic, spray paint, paint markers, pens, spackle, casting material, thread, metal studs, resin, clay, cork, hot glue

There was a time bones were mended with sticks, leaves and clay or just left to mend themselves; there was a time our homes were caves or huts built with branches, dried leaves, mud or clay; there was a time the clothes we wore were made out of hide and leaves, and threads were made with wool, stained with natural dyes. As a species we discovered new ways and new materials to use as agents to mend and build; somewhere along the way the intrinsic nature of these materials has been lost and transformed. We have interrupted the very process of decomposition, the planet's way of mending itself.

In this anthropogenic vision, the materials used are the same that mend bones, walls, clothes, etc. Unfortunately, all contain toxic chemicals that pollute our planet, notwithstanding they made possible the advancement of civilization. Climate disruption is Anthropogenic.
